madrid was great. i’m not the biggest fan of the city, wouldn’t want to live there, but it was great for the weekend.
the whole city centre has a great cohesiveness as it all looks to be from the same time period and doesn’t suffer from the mish mash of new and old that makes most post war european cities a fairly uneven experience. london, for instance, like so many other european cities, is stunning in parts but is let down by having such a high percentages of grim buildlings built in the last 50 years. one can’t help but feel that the whole city is a bit of a disneyland though, with so much catering towards tourism, like venice.
enough pondering. it was sunny, it was warm, we had some nice food, spent time with nice people… a few pics on flickr, more soon.
lacking sleep again, this early flights and straight to work business is killing me..
