for the last six months i’ve been tracking the hits of the blog, which has proved to be fairly interesting reading. i definitely didn’t expect so many people to look at it, let alone read it regularly. i’ve had over 11,000 page views from almost 700 unique visitors. of course, views are registered when people look at it in different locations, but i’m still baffled that so many people have bothered to look at me babbling on about life in a small village. on a daily basis, there are 30-40 people looking at the blog, which is fantastic.
i’m also hugely surprised to see where the hits have come from. here’s the top 10:
- italy
- finland (åland would have been 4th on its own. go åland!)
- united kingdom
- mexico
- japan
- sweden
- switzerland
- hong kong
- united states
- greece
italy have provided by far the most hits, which i would have never expected, but i’m very happy that our new friends (and some old ones) have shown interest in our adventures. i guess the blog is a good way for them to keep an eye on us!
the amount of hits from finland has also been a surprise but i think it reflects the fact that a lot of ulf’s friends are also reading this, which is great. it’s been really fun to work out who is looking in what cities, as i can see this information.
all very self indulgent, but i find it interesting nonetheless…
THANK YOU ALL FOR READING
ulf is still in platania for a couple of days, although i have heard very little from him (as expected!), but robert tells me that they are doing ok, although the plumber still hasn’t shown up. i don’t know whether to laugh or cry, it has been about a month of trying continuously to get the plumber to start and almost every day we are told he will arrive but we end up being disappointed. it drives me absolutely crazy this lack of timekeeping/ commitment, possibly the only thing i don’t like about calabria. grrrrrrrr.
in other news, i had a job interview today which went quite well. not sure if there’s a job there for me (the job that was vacant wasn’t suitable for me), but we’ll see. my new ambition is to keep writing this blog until i get a job, i may run out of things to say…
ps. my buddy jim has posted some great pics from his and andrea’s calabria visit, you can see them here.
UPDATE! ulf has been in touch now and it seems that they have been busy over there. the staircase that mastro francesco has built for us has been installed! can’t wait to see pics of it. i’m just relieved that it fits, i always get nervous that i’ve drawn or measured something wrong… electrical conduits have been run in most places, so now we just need electricians and plumbers to show up and we can plaster. maybe tomorrow, maybe next year…
